Therapy

I draw from a Strengths-Based and Family Systems approach when working with clients, and my style is collaborative, warm, and directive. I believe passionately in early intervention in order to support children and adolescents gain the skills and knowledge they need to support a successful transition to adulthood, as well as assist young adults as they begin new chapters in their lives. Adolescents are naturally very resilient and it is very important to me to draw on their individual strengths and interests so that they can successfully navigate the path from childhood to young adulthood. I often utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) interventions and techniques to help each individual learn to better regulate their emotions, practice new ways of thinking, and navigate and cope with stressful situations.

It is my strong belief that family and parenting support is a core component of working with adolescents, as a healthy family system is so impactful and important for children. I know that all adolescents want to feel loved and supported by their parents, and all parents want to be connected to their children! Because of that, I talk openly and honestly with parents and their children from the initial therapy session about how to include parents in our work so that adolescents feel supported and seen by all of the adults in their life.
